So, treating your arthritic knee pain (or back pain) should include helping you reach a healthy weight to reduce the stress on your body. You may have been told you have (“bone on bone”) arthritis of your knees, but your orthopedic surgeon wants you to lose a certain amount of weight before having surgery. This is to reduce your operative risks and ensure you have the best outcome. Sometimes, people feel very frustrated by this since their pain continues and their weight won’t budge.
